This particular day is a Wednesday. I woke up around 8 am that morning and decided to take a ride up to the Sandia Mountain, which is the mountain right next to Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is also the home to the longest tramway in the world. It is a 2 mile ride on the tram each way. It has been several years since I had been to the top and it was such a beautiful day that I just wanted to get out and drive somewhere that would be peaceful and where I could sit and just reflect on our lives and refocus on my goals for the family as we move foward with this business. I left the house around 10 am. It took me a couple of hours to clean up before I left and also to check my emails and just make sure all was running smooth with my business. I chose to drive up the road on the east side of the mountain in hopes to see some wildlife but did not see any. It took me a good hour and a half to get to the top of the mountain. Once on top, I parked my car and made my way to the overlook. It was an awesome site to be able to look for miles in all directions. As I walked on the trail that runs along the cliff, I found a spot where I could see the Tram going up and going down. As I sat there I thought back to the time that I was working in the corporate world and was just so thankful that I could be sitting there at that moment enjoying the scenery instead of being in an office putting up with all the drama, low pay, and poor leadership. I felt like I was on top of the world! I also reflected on the places my wife said she wanted to travel to and the things she wanted to do as a family. I spent a good hour just sitting, thinking, and taking pictures.

My daughter and I plan to hike up the west side of the Sandias on the famous La Luz Trail in a few weeks. It will probably take us about 4 hours to hike to the top of the mountain. The last time I hiked this trail was in 1995, a few months after my daughter was born. Now my daughter and I plan to do it together. The weather was not too hot and not too cold with a nice breeze blowing along the cliff.

It was around 12:30 pm when I decided to head back down the mountain. I was in touch with my wife and she suggested we eat lunch together when I get down the mountain. So once down, I met her for lunch and shared some of the things I was thinking about and just enjoyed each other’s company. It felt like we were on vacation somewhere eating lunch because this was a rare occasion when I used to work in the corporate world. Afterwards we made our way home which was about 2:00 pm. We got home around 3:00 pm and took an hour nap before our kids got home. Once they got home around 4:00 pm, I got up and I started working on the business and did some homework as I am completing my bachelor’s degree in Business Adminstration.

When thinking back to this day, I could have decided to do many other things with my time. I could have did some fishing, gone to visit a relative, went to see a movie, gone shopping, or just stayed home and watched movies.
